Anti-Gravity Experiment

A couple months ago I was in our kitchen preparing an amazing grilled cheese lunch for Lizzy and I.  While in the process of preparing the bread, I began buttering one side.  At the very same time my fat cat, Jaws, was crawling around my legs.  I reached to place the bread in the pan when I tripped over Jaws and dropped the bread on the floor.  As expected, the bread landed butter side down.

This made me think.  I had the bread that always lands butter side down, and the cat that always lands on it’s feet.  If I were a cartoon character, this is the moment the little thought bubble with the light bulb would appear over my head.

All these years the answer has been right under our nose, or more specifically, our feet.

Grab the cat, strap a piece of buttered bread to his back (butter side up, opposite of feet), and toss him in the air.  If my calculations are correct, what you should have is anti-gravity!  Since the cat will attempt to correct to get to his feet, and the natural phenomena of buttered bread won’t allow that, the cat should just hover – suspended in mid-air!

Anti-Gravity

Yeah, I know wings do not represent anti-gravity.  How do you suggest I represent a piece of buttered bread on the back of a cat – using only one color?
